President's Message
This past year, Mountain Laurel Garden Club has continued to do a
remarkable job of “Building a bridge, bringing people together through the love of plants and gardening.” Thanks to our talented club leadership and members possessing a strong commitment to MLGC and our community, we have continued to enrich the lives of many. The Conservation committee continues to educate our youth with environmental projects such as the Hickory Environmental Education Center, Sang Run State Park, and schools throughout the county. We brighten the day of many Dennett Manor residents with the gifting of flower arrangements from the Horticulture committee. Benefitting the community throughout the county, we continue to maintain the Ruth Enlow Library gardens, providing enjoyment to all that enter.
Our annual perennial plant sale and garden tour are not only major fund raisers for the club, they also provide educational information on floral design, invasive plants and good environmental gardening guidelines. The success of our new partnership with Habit for Humanity, designing and planting an all native garden at our first Habit home, will continue as we work with other home owners educating them on the importance of native plants, designing and planting beautiful native gardens.
We have an exciting year planned for our members with wonderful programs, classes, and activities. With acknowledgment of past successes and in anticipation of future accomplishments we welcome new ideas from our members to expand our goal and objectives.
I look forward to another great year, getting to know our new members and working with each of you as we continue to Build the Bridge! Denise Kramer
