Secret Country Garden Tour 2019
Our Garden Tours are our major fund-raiser, as well as important community educational event. Four or five residential gardens are included representing both small and large properties, rural and urban, some along Deep Creek Lake. In the recent past two state parks have been featured which provided education to the community about rain gardens, native plants, shoreline buffers, pollinators, and deer-proofing techniques. Virtually all regular members and a large number of associate members participate during the tour in various capacities. The Horticulture Committee's perennial plant sale, with plants donated from our members’ gardens, has been an ongoing project for the tour for the past 15 years. Visitors know that our plants are super hardy having been grown here in our Zone 5 gardens. Committee members also staff the sale, offer assistance to visitors looking for plants, and give guidance on planting and maintaining them.
